Team Keslar took 6 hunters to western Alaska for a combo hunt, we were with Jim Hodge of hodges Outfitting. I have hunted with Jim for many years, we have taken all the big game Alaska has to offer twice. I have been an Alaskan assitant guide for him the last 4 years also. The hunters were Monte MCcfadden,Dennis Marcelli,Armour Mellon,Don and Dave Francois, and myself Jack Keslar. We were after Caribou primarily, but that proved difficult. So we started to see bears, grizzlies, and black bears everywhere. That explained the lack of caribou and moose. So we turned our attention to Grizzlies…We scored 2 big grizzlies, in fact world class grizzlies. Dr. Dennis Marcelli scored a giant 9′ grizzly. Armour Mellon scored a even larger one at 9′2″ squared. Skulls measured at 25.5 inches ,and 27.5 respectivley. Alaska Fish and Game was very happy that we got those two predators out of that ecosystem or territory. It was a tuff hunt for all involved, but was a big adventure any way you look at it. Jim was short handed because of last minute illness to one of his guides so I filled his void. That did not stop us. It was all good, hope to talk to some of you soon…..Jack Keslar
